Nursery Inspiration, Part 1

I promise Fifi Cheek is not turning into a baby blog, but I did want to share some ideas for the nursery. 

We have a few things in place, like the crib.

 If you can LOVE a crib, then this crib by Dwell Studio  had me at hello. 

I love the clean lines and the modern legs and especially love that I don't have to deal with a crib skirt. 

 I also bought these cuties for the nursery right when I found out that I was pregnant. They are from Anthropologie and are paper maiched out of French books. 

 Do you remember how I told you how much I feel in love with the art site 20x200? I started out with buying just the baby giraffe for our gallery wall, but once I found out I was pregnant, wanted a collection of these baby animals for the nursery. I"ll hang these in a collection above the dresser or changing table. 

With the crib and art work being neutral, I want to punch up the rest of the room with lots of color and patterns. I think that it would be fun to play off the orange in the giraffe and maybe pull in pinks or corals, but I don't want the animal theme to be so literal that we have zebra print drapes. Instead, I would love to something like Quadrille Kazak in orange and magenta. So chic and fun and bright and a fabric that could grow with her into her next room. This particular fabric isn't in the budget, but I think I can find something close!

For lighting, I want to do something really large and fun and this Ps Maskros chandelier from Ikea just might fit the bill, both in design and budget. I think the glam factor could go way up with a good coat of gold spray paint. 

The husband is taking me to Charleston for a babymoon for a long, much needed weekend away! I can't wait to scour the antique shops and eat my way around the city.

Belly Shots and Dressing with a Belly

To all my mommas in the making, getting dressed every morning can seem like a full time job in itself. Because I had a horrible experience at the maternity store, I've steered clear of going back and am happily buying things a little bit larger than normal and hitting up the Gilt maternity sales whenever possible. It's working for now. 

At the beginning of my pregnancy, I had plenty of options because of baggy dresses and the belly band. I wore over sized button-ups and t-shirts on the daily. 

At 15 weeks, I had to pull out the maternity shorts.

I'm not sure when it happened, but somewhere between 15 weeks and 18 weeks, I popped. I was right in the middle of wedding craziness, and a dress that had fit just fine was now making me look like a pregnant stripper. SO not a good look. 

This is the husband and I with Polly Anna and Cooper on the 4th of July. I can still squeeze into some of my regular dresses. This dress is from Zara and the band hits just right above my bump. 

Now a little past 20 weeks, (HALF WAY THERE!) I'm still wearing regular dresses but buying them a size bigger than I normally would. Some maternity clothes are seriously heinous and I just can't do it. I wear the same few dresses over and over, but mix them up with jewels and accessories.

Fortunately, I'm not alone in this escapade. Other than fab friends here in Wilmington, a few fellow bloggers are due right around the time that I am and have shared some fashion tips of their own!

I love Sydney's casual style. She writes one of my favorite blogs, The Daybook .

Joy from Oh joy! is equally adorable. This little shrug is ideal to cover up the tatas that have become larger than life these days!

Our Reveal Party

Last night, Gray and I hosted a Baby Reveal party, something that we had talked about doing from the day we found out we were going to have a baby! We went to the doctor on Wednesday and had the doctor call the bakery so that we would be surprised with our closest family and friends. It was so much fun doing it that way! Our good friend Brent Holloman took this video! Hope you enjoy!!!

With our last big wedding weekend behind us until August, it's time for a little vacay. Although champagne may not be on the menu for me, I can assure you that relaxation with friends, a few virgin boat drinks, and some days on the beach are in order!

I would like for my summer to look like this...

But instead I'm working until past midnight almost every night and surrounded my sweet treats to keep us going until July arrives

PS: All of this sugar is making the baby move, especially at night when we jam it out to Adele and Broadway tunes

If I didn't have a bun in the oven...

I would most definitely buy these beauties. Aren't they brilliant? PETITE jeans by Rag & Bone, my personal favorite, so that the knee is actually where it is supposed to be on our petite little legs instead of at our ankles. Maybe I should buy a pair in my normal size as extra motivation of getting back into shape right after the baby arrives?

In other news, I went maternity shopping this past weekend it was totally depressing. I pouted the whole way as my patient husband and mom brought item after item into the dressing room. It wouldn't be so bad, except when we walked in, the salesperson gave us a "tour" of the store. There was a "Neiman Marcus" section, an "Ann Taylor Loft" section and a "JC Penny" section. If that doesn't make you just want to die right then I'm not sure what does. Of course the "Neiman Marcus" section had the cutest clothes, great lighting, and plush furnishings, while the other sections got dingier and more fluorescent lighting by the step. I'm not knocking Ann Taylor or JCP, but when you are in that kind of state of vulnerability, you can't help but to frown a little when your ethics just won't pay $200 for a pair of cut-off maternity shorts. In the end, I came away with the necessities, but I'm still just hoping that if I buy thing a size or two larger it will get me through until November. Fingers crossed!

Million Dollar Rooms...

Did you watch Million Dollar Rooms last night? I thought it was totally fab. A lot of people out in the blog world complained it was too over the top and self loathing, but I myself loved it. I especially loved Kathryn Ireland's French housekeeper that wouldn't stop drinking wine. I would love to have her as a live in nanny/housekeeper minus the drinking wine part. I'm not sure a french housekeeper is the same without the wine. Oh well...

 If you haven't seen it, it's worth your time to stop and watch it, I promise!
