Mom Clothes

Yesterday, Tilley-Gray had her four month shots. It was pitiful. Her face turned bright red and she didn't stop crying until we got home and I was able to rock her to sleep. Bless her heart.
It was traumatizing for both of us.
You know what else was traumatizing? My husband telling me I looked like "a Wilmington mom."
When I walked into the pediatrician's office with tennis clothes on and a beet and carrot juice in one hand, baby in the other, he told me I officially looked like a mom.
In Wilmington, mom's have the reputation of wearing tennis clothes whether they have hit the courts or not that day. To his defense, he told me I would "look great in mud" but it was a sweet reminder that I need to get my shit together. There just isn't a prettier way to put it.
I've never been in the mom category before. My days consist of working from home, play groups, running errands, and the occasional meeting or lunch. For years I was able to wear flirty dresses and cute little cigarette pants. Neither one of those things work for me now.  I have a closet full of clothes with nothing to wear for my new day to day.
Inspired and motivated, I've done a little online shopping.

  3. Lindsey, I don't know what you're talking about, every picture you post you look totally ADORABLE!!!! I consider myself fashionable and my daughter is 13 month and today I went to a playgroup in Yoga pants, running shoes and a fitted thermal (and I was dressed the cutest there lol). My question is do you buy your clothes you put on your inspiration boards? Also did you ever get your BoB stroller and start running? I read your post and it motivated me, I bought a BoB and have been running ever since! So thanks for that BTW.

    1. Hey Gina!
You are so sweet! I wear yoga pants on a daily basis too. I buy bits and pieces of what I post, but most of them are just inspirations, although I would love to have them all! I did buy a BOB stroller and it was the best investment! I use it almost every single day and have really loved it! Thanks! xo

  6. Lindsey, I hear you! I am going trought the same thing. I got so upset these last days that I spend some afternoons shopping after work with a crying 2 month old baby in the stroller. But I need a new wardrope, nothing fits me, I still have a huge belly and still look 5 months pregnant, you on the other hand are an inspiration to me you look lovely in your pictures. I started to hit the gym with a personal trainer and moulding massages, it boosts my confidence knowing I am working on it.

  7. Great post Lindsey! The " I need to get my shit together" made me laugh out loud! The honesty is refreshing. Every morning before leaving for work, I look for a new post from you! A new post from you in a GREAT start to a day. I might even do a little victory twirl when one is up! True fact. Have a lovely day!

  9. Lindsey I sooooo understand how you feel (and look, except I was never as posh as you sweet one, so just imagine your "tennis" look scaled down to a preteen in gym shorts and a t shirt, ugh!!). Chin up, I'm sure you'll get back into the swing of your new mama friendly style!

  12. We had 4-month shots for my daughter yesterday as well, and it has been a sad 24 hours in our household. On the matter of clothing -- something about the simplicity of my maternity wardrobe (one pair of black pants that fits really well, the perfect greige v-neck sweater, etc) has left me completely dissatisfied with my pre-baby clothes. Plus, no one wants to look like schleppy mom. Thanks for keeping us all motivated! (And good for you for going with the juice -- it's always coffee in my hand).
