Weekend & Paris Packing

This week has been a whirlwind with two big events that we just completed tonight. I'm exhausted but exhilarated because they were both so beautiful and went so smoothly. If I can give one piece advice to any brides out there, it's this; hire great vendors. If your caterer's food is fabulous but their service is awful, no one remembers the food. If the DJ/Band has great music but are horrible MCs, those awkward moments can really put a damper on the evening. It's amazing how many details go into a  wedding, and I'm so happy to be working with such an incredible people that are so OCD it makes an evening magical. Those are the kind of people you want working on your wedding, I promise. Those details make all the difference.

The husband is at a great friend's wedding in Raleigh, and although my heart aches that I couldn't see two of my dear friends get married, it's what I signed up for when I decided that I wanted to be in the wedding industry. Happy, happy, happy wedding dear Rachel and Todd. I missed you both so much tonight and I wish I could have been there to see all of the incredible moments as well as to hear and dance to  Backbeat. Love you both and can't wait to hear about everything!

The time has come and Paris is only one day away. Tomorrow is filled with meetings so I'm left with hardly anytime to pack for Paris. I can't believe it's already here. I promise lots of photos and maybe even a post or two while I'm away. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions on Paris, let me know!

Birthday!

Mrs. Minnie & Chocolate Drop welcomed us this morning at the stables

Today is my birthday and I feel INCREDIBLY blessed. This year has been almost magical. I have the love and support of so many wonderful friends and an amazing family. I embarked on an exciting new chapter of my life with a wonderful team of people that I feel so lucky to be with. It's far better than anything I could ever imagined. How many people can truly say that that really love what they do everyday? I know that I am so blessed.

I have a loving husband that is thoughtful and kind. I have come to realize what true friendship is more than ever this year and I can't thank my friends enough for that; you are all so special to me. More than anything, I am so proud of where I am today and am  looking forward to what this 28th year brings.

I woke up this morning with a coffee and a surprise sunrise horse back ride on the beach with my husband. I was just surprised with 36 gorgeous antique roses from sweet Jennifer at Salt Harbor. And just now, Bryan from Flour and Flower brought a macaroon birthday cake over. I'm just beyond words on how very special this birthday has really been! This evening, we are having dinner at my favorite French restaurant, Caprice Bistro with cocktails and champagne toasts.
Thanks you all again for such sweet birthday wishes!

Love these roses so much

Sweaty and stinky from a horse ride but so excited about these roses!

Pistachio and Strawberry Dark Chocolate Macaroons... Bliss

Off to get this horse smell off and some high heels on for dinner and cocktails!

Upcoming Workshop

For a while now Salt Harbor (the event and floral design company that I work with) has been working with an awesome photographer on a top secret workshop project!  We are going to offer an incredible opportunity for designers and photographers to team up with the intention of learning how to network, publish, and build a great portfolio!  We are so excited about this opportunity and simply can't wait to share more.  Keep watching here and on facebook for more.

Black and White and Fab All Over

Katie and Matt

Katie and Matt were married on October 2nd at the Bellamy Mansion. Their wedding was fabulously Southern and so much fun. I'm lucky enough to always really love my clients, but this family was especially close to my heart. See more photos of this gorgeous couple and the details of their day on Scott Piner's blog.

Hot Air Balloons and Weekend Things

This week has been extremely busy but so much fun. First, I had the chance to work on a friend's wedding. She is having a pot luck reception with yard games and a bluegrass band. I can't wait to share the photos; it's going to be stunning.

Second, our neighbor's restaurant, Saltworks II, is being filmed as we speak by the Food Network show Restaurant Impossible. We eat at his restaurant every Sunday with six of our neighbors for Breakfast Club. We are so stoked for Mike and have dinner reservations tonight at 7:30pm for the unveiling.

On another note, one of my clients for next year told me that her parents were married in a hot air balloon. That got me thinking what it would be like to really get married in a hot air ballon. Joy Thigpen and Jose Villa just style and shot this for Southern Weddings Magazine. How about that?

Can I get an AMEN

For the most perfect wedding shoe ever. I hate to say this but.... I DIE.

And the most bad ass clutch of all times by the late
Alexander McQueen.
One of the many treasures he left behind.

These two beauties took me to church and back

Birthday Wish List: Fab Wine and Cheese Party

What's a birthday without a fab party? I love to throw a party, but believe it not, I get a little stressed when the party is for me. A wine and cheese party is the perfect solution to the anxiety ridden birthday girl/boy. When a party has a purpose, i.e. sampling wine and cheese, the focus isn't on the birthday girl, but on the wine. Perfection!

Letterpress invitations, vineyard inspired decor, and a simple rustic setting

Keep it simple with a few cheeses, breadsticks, pears, nuts, olives, and hummus

Individual cheese boards with hand-drawn labels are a thoughtful touch for guests

Cheese labels written in calligraphy add a special touch that isn't so expensive

A dessert table with sweet cheese is perfect for a wine and cheese party

Homemade vanilla and sea salt ice cream with french press coffee for late night

Olive oil favors in pretty glass jars for your party guests to take home

Birthday Month!

As I have said in the past, birthdays are a big deal around here. My birthday last year was a little less than stellar and I've been having a pity party about it ever since. This year, I have vowed to not think about it. I have been giving gifts to myself for the past several months in decorating my house and will be off to Paris in less than a month!
What could be better than that?

Keeping in the spirit of all things birthday, after all, this is only a once in a lifetime get out of jail free card for the husband, I'm making a "wish list" of birthday things but don't expect a thing. I really mean it!

First things first... CAKE!

Is this not the most absolute adorable cake you have ever seen? I love it with my whole heart and don't think I could ever cut it.

Gorgeous flowers and a few treasures hidden into drool worthy bags

Lots, lots more to come. In the meantime, I'm off to torture myself with a little Bikram Yoga
