Photo Shootin

This week has been filled with pulling items for a holiday photo shoot we wrapped  yesterday. It was great being thrown into Christmas a little early.
I would be lying if I said we weren't listening to our  Christmas playlist.

We shopped some of our favorite stores in Wilmington, including Nest, Paysage, and Blue Hand Home.

A sneak peek of our table top. I'll be sure to post the full article in November!

Not to put anyone into panic mode, but did you know Christmas is only 88 days away?

Less than 30 until I'm 30

I'll be 30 in a little less than a month. I feel like it's the first time I've reached an age that I made deadlines for when I was younger. Some things I've checked off, and some things haven't happened yet, and I'm OK with that.
I love birthdays, but not necessarily mine. I don't want a big party but feel like this birthday deserves something a little special. I would love to hear any ideas!

On to another celebration, congratulations to Alison of Coupon Kitchen for winning the gorgeous Marquin Designs painting! Email me with your info!

Marquin Designs + a Giveaway

Art is something that I am constantly on the look out for clients, so I was thrilled when I meet Marquin of Marquin Designs. Her work is gorgeous and at a price that won't break the bank. Marquin is giving away a gorgeous piece of her artwork to one lucky reader.
It's sitting in my office right now, and Shannon and I have been admiring it for the past few days. We really aren't thrilled about letting it go, but I know that one of you will find a perfect place for it.
(The front painting Marquin made for Tilley-Gray's room!)

Want to know a little more about Marquin
Marquin Campbell, a native of Savannah, Georgia, has loved all things creative since she was young.  After studying Drawing and Painting at The University of Georgia she went on to study fashion design at Parsons School of Design in New York City.  After dipping her fingers in the world of fashion, she returned to marry a Southern beau, George.

She started her jewelry lineMarquin Designs and Vino & van Gogh (a two hour wine & paint class) out of her home in January 2011.  Both companies have taken off and she squeezes in every free moment to pursue her third interest: painting.

Marquin keeps open hours of 2-6 Tuesday-Friday and welcomes visitors to her studio located at 1818 Augusta Street, Suite 112- Greenville, SC 29605

To enter:
1. Like Marquin Designs on Facebook
2. Like Poplin & Queen on Facebook
3. Leave a comment on where you would hang this piece if you won it!

I'm on vacation starting tomorrow, so I will annouce the winner on Monday!

Real Life

I told you all how I rolled my hair in the mornings. Tilley-Gray thinks it's hilarious when I roll her hair.

She doesn't think it's hilarious when the dogs try to get in on her afternoon snack/magazine time.
She isn't happy about it one bit.

One of my best friends from college came to visit last week and I put her right to work. Fabric samples were overtaking my house and she brought Ikea storage to wrangle it all. Thanks Jennifer!

What else is going on? Dreaming about this kitchen
It could be in my top five favorites for the lantern and back splash alone.

Stay tuned tomorrow for a really fun giveaway!

Girl Crush: Gwyneth Paltrow + J.Crew

Two of my favorites, Gwyneth Paltrow and J.Crew.

Gray and I took Tilley-Gray out for her first pizza on Friday night and popped into J.Crew afterwards. A few of my favorites? Almost everything. I walked away with this polka dot shirt and dress (on sale!). The men's section is pretty awesome as well. Grayson got a few of their Ludlow suits last year for Christmas and won't wear anything else. He's pretty handsome in them with his bow ties.
Happy Monday!

Favorite Fridays (it's back)

How has your week been? As you can tell from my blogging, this week has been a little crazy with work, a new routine for Tilley-Gray, and transitioning the house from Summer to Fall .
Here are a few favorites from this week:

Favorite Recipe
Trying this tomorrow night with a good bottle of red wine.

I'm positive I haven't shared this before, but bad garage doors are my pet peeve.
Don't make them an after thought.

Favorite Fall Clothes
I haven't shopped for Fall clothes for myself because I'm spending all my money on Tilley-Gray. Buying clothes for her is so much fun! I did take a peak over at Devon Baer's new collection and love what I see.

Favorite Photo
Tilley-Gray loves story time, especially when we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

I hope y'all have a great weekend!
xoxo

Get It Together

This past week has been full of changes and updates, some that I can share, and some that I have to keep a secret for just a few more weeks! I really couldn't be more excited.
So sorry for the long break in blogging!
At home, things have been a little up and down with projects, including one that caused me major stress, hiring a new (almost) full time nanny. After lots of prayers, emails, and interviews, I feel like I have finally found the right balance.
In the midst of all of these new changes, organization has been key, starting from the ground up. My purse is typically a black hole full of receipts, change, Kashi bars, loose lip gloss tubes, and keys. I invested in a few pieces to keep me organized and my purse a bit more stylish.

With an organized purse, it seems to keep the rest of me on track for the day.
Do you have any favorites that keep you organized through the day? I'd love to hear!

Lately

I despise the word "busy" almost more than any other word, because I feel like it's so insincere and unthoughtful, but my days have been filled to the brim and I couldn't feel more blessed.
Everything that I have been hoping and praying for has started to come to fruition and all of these days and months and years of worry and prayer have started to pay off.
I'm blessed with such an amazing business partner and friend who is my perfect balance, an incredible intern who keeps us in check, a supportive husband who doesn't ask when the next pay check is coming, and a circle of family and friends who encourage and root for us over even the smallest of triumphs.

One of our biggest supporters is my Papa, who turned 80 a few weeks ago. He's our biggest fan, and if he could, would be our in house carpenter.

Tilley-Gray turned 9 months last Saturday. She is obsessed with her new tricycle.

Bath time is a fun event every night, especially when Gray is in charge of getting her ready for bed.

I thought that I would be the one to spoil her, but I've been proven wrong. We went out to get her a pair of starter walking shoes, and Gray kept adding to the pile. We were given the "buy five, get one free" card. Trouble.

Shannon and I have partnered with our great friend and real estate savy go-to, Jessica Edwards, on a few adverstisements, including a moving truck.

"Shannon, you're from Texas so you have to drive the truck."

With new projects under way, a big event tomorrow night with Monkee's, and a mobile 9 month old, I have to stop and remind myself how truly blessed I am. Forever I felt like I was on the verge of something about to happen, trying to figure out what it was, and not saying that I do or ever will, but it's feeling pretty good right now.
What is going on (good or bad) in your lives? I know I'm not the only one with good news! I would love to hear!

Playful Patterns

Gearing up for Fall Fashion, I'm wanting to update my home and closet with a few playful prints.

1/2/3/4

What do you think about these prints in your closet and home?
I'm not sure the husband would let me bring cheetah into the home, but I'm might just have to try.
I love the benches at the end of Michelle Adams' bed!

Fall Fashion

I was pregnant last Fall, so my closet needs a bit of an update. A few pieces at a time and hopefully I can catch my closet up to speed!

Fall is my absolute favorite season. The weather, the food, the festivities (I'm turning 30 in October!), and all the family time are things that make Fall my favorite season.

This is Tilley-Gray's first Fall and I know she will love it too. I'm stocking her closet with cute dresses and play suits from Mini Boden. I especially love their patterned tights for babies.
