Favorite Fridays

How has your week been? Mine has been busy with projects, visiting with out of town friends, and getting ready for the weekend. One of my best friends from college and her boyfriend are coming to stay with us this weekend and I can't wait!

Favorites from J.Crew
I love these paperbag pants and shorts from J.Crew. Have you peeked through their new magazine. I could take one of everything!

They have also teamed with Rikshaw Design and have created adorable designs for babies including these bloomers.

Favorite Exterior
Have you started planting yet? We worked in the yard last week, but one day a little studio like this would be amazing in the back yard.

Favorite Recipe
Do y'all have favorite cooking/recipe blogs for healthy food? I am totally uninspired to cook these days.
I was really slack with cooking this week, but we are trying out this Raspberry Lemonade cocktail this weekend. I typically like my liquor with just a splash of soda, but these might be the ticket now that I have a baby. Hangovers are not an option anymore!

Favorite Purchase
These were an acciddental purchase, but the heel of my shoe broke off and I just happened to be right at Monkee's. Thank goodeness. I had a sitter at the time, and let me tell you, I am like a bandit when I have a sitter. I don't stop and eat lunch or even to use the bathroom if I can help it because I'm PAYING someone for that time and babysitters are expensive!  I had to have another pair of shoes to finish the rest of my errands, and these were so cute I couldn't resist. They are the Kate Spade Lexie

Favorite Find
I've been struggling to find a nightlight for Tilley-Gray's room until I ran across these cuties from Jonathan Adler. I can't decide on which one I like the best. Which one is your favorite?

Favorite Photo
So hard to choose, so here are a few of my favorites from this week!

I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

A Picnic Kind of Day

It's in the 80's this week, so Tilley-Gray and I have been going on long walks and are having ourselves a little picnic in the park tomorrow afternoon. She loves laying under the big oak trees.

This was our first trip to the park a few weeks ago.

I wasn't sure how our first trip would go, but she loves looking around, so this time, I'll be more prepared. A pretty basket, a beach blanket, hat, cute shorts, and sandals are in order for our first true picnic. I'll report back on how it goes!

400 + Fabulous

That's right...400 followers! When I started this little blog way back when, I would have never believed that one day 400 people would actually sign up to read it. I know some of you out there just pop by for a look-see, and that's OK too, but for those of you that let me know that you read, thank you so much. It's such a celebration in the Cheek house that the husband declared it deserves a special date night. (A very special thank you to Sara from Social Sara for being lucky #400. You got me a date night my friend!)

Rompin Round

As summer quickly approaches (what happened to Spring!?) the ease of putting on a romper is so appealing. No matching required, no searching the drawers for a t-shirt to pair with shorts. Just pull on the romper, slip on a pair of flip flops, and out the door you go.

Are these not adorable? Which one is your favorite?

Favorite Fridays

How has your week been? It has flown by for me and I am looking forward to enjoying a relaxing weekend at home. Here are a few favorites from this week...

Favorite Purchase
The ASOS hair donut
Favorite Shoe
Ras Espadrille Wedge
If I bought these wedges in all three colors, would I need any other shoes for Spring?
(Well, maybe this one and this one)

Favorite Find
The Sprouted Kitchen is a gorgeous food blog that I found this week and I have become addicted. I have "pinned" recipes that I'm dying to try and have read about food combinations that I would have never thought of (sweet pototoes and chili beans?) I'm trying this beet green salad this weekend. The farmers market opens soon and I can't wait to stroll Tilley-Gray down in her little red wagon and load it up with fresh fruits and veggies.

I'm off to a girl's lunch at Bluewater on the beach and then maybe cocktails with this sweet lady and her husband this afternoon. A great start to the weekend!

New Blog Design

I'm working with Danielle Moss from Breakfast at Toast on a new blog design. The chevron is tired and I'm ready for a fresh new look. Here are a few of my inspirations that I sent her. I can't wait to share the new design! We just started tweaking and I'm so excited!

This past week was a whirlwind, but so much fun. I had three fun parties that I helped put together including a birthday party for Shannon, a trunk show for Monkee's, and a shower for my step-sister, Constance. I was too busy having fun girl time at Shannon's party to take any photos, and you can see photos of the trunk show on the Monkee's blog soon. I did manage to sneak in some photos this weekend and I'm so glad that I did!

Mom and I made all of the food for Constance's shower on Friday. She is an incredible cook and I am hoping to one day be as good as she is! I learned some tricks this weekend that I can't wait to try out on my own.

We had to play a few games at the shower, one in which I had the chance to dress up Aunt Jean in a toilet paper wedding dress. She has been engaged four times, but never married. I asked her if she kept the diamonds and she said "absolutely." Fiesty little thing.

My grandparents came up on Sunday. My Papa is one of my favorite people in the whole world and I love seeing  him and Tilley-Gray together.

On the way back home yesterday, Tilley-Gray had a complete melt down right around Chapel Hill so we decided to stop and get some fresh air. We all needed it. We took her for a walk along Franklin Street for the first time.

We ended up in the front of Gray's old fraternity house. Times have certainly changed!

We got married almost five years ago and had our reception at the the Carolina Inn, one of my very favorite hotels. They just went under a huge renovation and the rooms are gorgeous.

I love the blue paint and the white dinnerware. So classic!

UNC was playing Creighton and Tilley-Gray was done with her meltdown so we decided to pop into the Carolina Inn bar for a quick dinner while we watched the second half of the game. (I know, a baby in a bar, but it's a a classy one.)

The Carolina Inn bar feels like a living room in someone's home. It's so cozy and comfortable.

UNC won, Tilley-Gray was relaxed, and I had a big glass of red wine before we got back on the road (Gray was driving). It was a successful stop on the long ride home.

I hope your weekend was great as well! I have so much unpacking to do, but we are going to enjoy this 80 degree weather as much as we can by spending it outside.

Favorite Fridays

Favorite Dress
Diane von Furstenberg's Julieta Dress

I went to the Monkee's Diane von Furstenberg trunk show yesterday and did a little bit of shopping. I have a lot of wedding showers and baby showers coming up and needed a dress like this for those events. It is so comfortable and flattering and actually a lot prettier in person. The detail on the sleeves is one of my favorite parts. You can call Monkee's or find it online here

Favorite Interior
The dutch door, the organized laundry room, and the well behaved dog just does it for me.

Favorite Accessory

Again, this was STUNNING in person. I didn't buy it, but if I could, I would. It was gorgeous!

Favorite Recipe
When it's 80 degrees outside in March, the last thing I want to do is cook. This is fast, healthy, and inexpensive.

Favorite Photo
We took a lot of walks this week outside and she loves her sunnies.

I'm in Hickory this weekend hosting a wedding shower for my step-sister. I hope y'all have a great weekend!

Please excuse my absence...

It seems that my social calendar got the best of me. Hosting three parties and traveling in one week with a 3 month old is a balancing act I've never had to do before! Wish me luck and I'll see you all on Monday!

Kony 2012

Between spending time with my mom and snuggles with my baby, I watched this video this weekend and was left speechless but hopeful. Have you watched this?

Favorite Fridays

Is it Friday already? Holy moly this week has flown by. Today is an extra special day because my mom is in town for the weekend. Don't you just love moms? She lives five hours away and the last time she was here was when Tilley-Gray was born. It's such a treat to have her here!

Without further adieu...

This is the perfect dress in my mind. I could wear it with my Jack Rogers during the day or my favorite heels for a night out.

Favorite Interior
Look at these gorgeous framed Hermes scarves in Emilia de Poret's home! I only can wish to have more than one framed myself!

Manicures are my favorite and these Essie colors make them that much more fun!

FAQ's and Photos

Y'all are just the sweetest readers. I get daily emails telling me how much y'all just love Tilley-Gray and my house. I'm not the best at responding to emails, which makes me feel kind of jerky, so I'm going to do a little FAQ today.

I want to see your house! Why don't you do a home tour?
I would LOVE to do a home tour, but (exciting news!) HGTV magazine is coming in the next few months to do an article on my house, so I feel like I need to wait for a house tour until after that goes into publication. I hope y'all understand. It's pretty exciting and nerve racking at the same time. I feel like I need to do a million things to my house before they come, but they like the house like it is so, that's the way I'm keeping it. My husband, and my bank account, appreciate it I'm sure.

Are you still an event planner? Why don't you post your work?
This is such a good question! I've been planning weddings for almost 10 years now and I'm taking a much needed break. This past year I worked with an amazing company, Salt Harbor Designs, and you can see all of the weddings that I coordinated on their blog. I'm a big believer in claiming what's yours. The photos show what the designer and Salt Harbor's amazing team produced and although I was a part of their team, it wouldn't be right to show those images on my blog. I was lucky enough to be a part of all of those events and to coordinate all of the moving parts to some of the most amazing weddings.
I love working and have a big project in the works that I'm really passionate about that I can't wait share!

Where did you get your drapery rods? I've been looking all over for them and can't find them.
I wish I knew! I bought them from an interior designer that has since closed shop. I do know that I paid way too much money for them and I wish that I hadn't. I have seen really similar ones on Restoration Hardware's website on sale. If I see anything like them again, I'll be sure to post them and let you know!

Where did you buy your bar stools?
I found them on GILT (are you a member?) for $60.00 a piece, no lie. They are made by a company called Zuo and are really comfortable!

Where do you buy Tilley-Gray's clothes?
I'm so fortunate that Tilley-Gray is the first grandbaby on both sides, so we haven't had to buy her very many clothes. Baby clothes are so expensive! The grandmother's have taken care of that! Baby Gap, Shrimp & Grits, Janie and Jack, Best Dress Child, Zara Baby, and H&M are my favorite.

Here are some recent photos..

We have been having lots of play time on the floor lately. I used to be so particular about my house, but now old quilts lay on top of my beloved zebra rug and stay there. Things really do change when you have kids but I love it.

Our neighbors own Salt Works 2 restaurant and we have breakfast there almost every Saturday morning.

I told you how obsessed Gray is with the Baby Bjorn. I call this the Goose and Maverick photos.

Tilley-Gray turned 3 months on March 1st. I can't believe it!

Gray and Tilley-Gray watching her first UNC vs Duke game. Thank goodness UNC won.

One of my goals is to be a much better responder to emails, so please email me with any questions!
I really do love your emails and hope this answered them!
