How to host a Favorite Things Party

I posted a photo last night on instagram from a "favorite things" party I went to and had such a big response, I thought I'd share a little more today. I have really tried to be more disconnected lately, so only took one photo, but I wanted to share all the details. It was honestly one of the best parties I have been to, so here are the details....

How a Favorite Things Party Works...

Invite all of your favorite friends:
There were 10 girls last night and it was a great size for this kind of party

Each friend brings four of their "favorite things"
All of our gifts had to be $8 or less, but after talking about it, we may up it to $10 the next go around.

Each friend fills out a "favorite things" sheet:
Some of the questions were favorite movie, favorite food, favorite guilty pleasure, etc.

To start the game and gift giving:
The host chooses a "favorite things" sheet and reads off the answers. The first party guest to guess who the sheet belongs to chooses four names (out of a basket) to give their favorite thing to. Then she reads the next sheet..
Each guest has their name in the basket four times, so each guest goes home with four favorite things!

It was really one of the best nights I have had in a long time. These past few weeks have been especially stressful, and it was so nice to relax and just have a good time with girl friends!

If you are going to a "favorite things" party or hosting one,
here are a few of my favorite things from last night's party:

this was the most wanted item of the night!

such a great smelling lotion

everyone needs these

won this and didn't feel so guilty driving through the drive-thru this morning!

won this as well and I can't wait to read it!

Have any of you gone to one of these parties? I'd love to hear!

  1. LOVE this! And thanks for doing a blog post on this. So once a ladies name is drawn, it goes back in, right? Technically they could win 10 times if you had 10 ladies total?

  3. My friend hosted one of these parties, and it was one of my favorites! At ours, we brought enough items for everyone at the party to have one. So, we each went home with about 10 new things. We also had a variety of ages of women (from 22 to 80), which made it really fun. The gifts I remember included pumpkin butter, cool measuring spoons, blue glass items, nail polish & sharpies, lotion, books, and dish towels. We also each brought a favorite dessert and a copy of the recipe for everyone.

  10. I hosted one for my birthday last year and we had a ball. Everyone brought in 4 items and our max was $5 each. We ended up with great things like EOS lip balm, candles, nail polish, etc. We all had so much fun that they requested that we have another one and I hosted another one 6 months later. At that one we still did the $5 max and amazingly we ended up with different items but it was all the same ladies plus 2, I think. This go around everyone brought in an appetizer and recipe to share. Both times we had a blast! I think I may host another, they were fabulous!!!
